Eero Saarinen's iconic 1948 design for Knoll, the Womb Chair answers Florence Knoll's vision of ultimate comfort. Its signature deep, enveloping shell cradles the sitter in a form that feels complete only when paired with the matching ottoman. Fully upholstered on all sides—a bold choice at the time—the chair reveals thoughtful craftsmanship from every vantage point, making it as considered in its construction as it is in its embrace.

The Womb Chair At 75
The Knoll Womb Chair has an enveloping form that continues to be one of the most celebrated and recognized representations of midcentury organic modernism. By applying foam molded over a fiberglass shell, Saarinen created a single-piece form that perfectly facilitates a relaxed sitting posture.
