Eero Saarinen was a Finnish-American architect and designer celebrated for his expressive, sculptural approach to modern architecture and furniture. Born in Finland and raised in the United States, he was the son of renowned architect Eliel Saarinen and studied architecture at Yale University. Saarinen believed that design should respond to both function and emotion, often exploring new forms and materials to create bold yet elegant solutions.

In furniture design, his collaboration with Knoll produced some of the most iconic pieces of the 20th century, including the Tulip Chair and Saarinen Dining Table. These pedestal designs were created to simplify the clutter of traditional table and chair legs, resulting in a clean, unified form. Beyond furniture, Saarinen designed major architectural landmarks such as the Gateway Arch and the TWA Flight Center, works that demonstrate his visionary approach to structure, engineering, and spatial experience.
