Platner Dining Table
Warren Platner's three-year design journey culminated in this 1966 dining table, created when modernism embraced elegance and grace. Hand-welded steel rods form the base, anchored to circular frames top and bottom. The table reveals itself differently from every angle: a dense, textile-like pattern from above; a shimmering vertical rhythm catching light from the side. Structure and ornament are one—each rod balances support with sculptural presence.

In 1966, the Platner Collection captured the “decorative, gentle, graceful” shapes that were beginning to infiltrate the modern vocabulary. The iconic dining table, which creates a focal point for any dining room, is created by welding curved steel rods to circular frames, simultaneously serving as structure and ornament.
