When the Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman was introduced in 1956, nothing like it existed, and nothing still compares. Charles and Ray’s modern take on a 19th-century club chair has not only endured for decades, but it has also become one of the most significant furniture designs of the 20th century—instantly recognizable and enduringly fresh. A universally recognized form, the set is available in a variety of veneers and upholstery. Both the chair and ottoman are hand-assembled with great attention to detail, and the cushions are individually upholstered and replaceable.
A new eco-friendly bamboo leather made from 83% FSC-certified bamboo fibers and 17% non-toxic resins. This sustainable material is fade-resistant, scratch-proof, and incredibly soft. With a 35% lower carbon footprint than traditional leather and the ability to biodegrade within 250 days in landfills, it combines luxury with sustainability.

The Eameses’ modern take on a nineteenth century club chair has not only endured for more than 50 years, it has become one of the most significant furniture designs of the twentieth century—instantly recognizable and enduringly fresh.
Unparalleled Craftsmanship
Both the chair and ottoman are hand-assembled with great attention paid to the details. Shells are 7-ply veneers. Cushions are individually upholstered and replaceable. The back braces and bases—of both the chair and ottoman—are die-cast aluminum. The chair base has a built-in swivel mechanism. Shock mounts are resilient natural rubber. Stainless steel glides are adjustable.
