The Risom Sitting Stool is a direct descendant of Jens Risom's original 1941 Knoll collection — the maple frame and cotton webbing construction that defined the line from the start, scaled down to a low stool format. Where the side chair is built for the table, the sitting stool occupies a more informal register: low enough to work as occasional seating in a living room, beside a bed, or at the end of a sofa, and compact enough to tuck away when not in use. Described as good, honest furniture design, the collection helped establish Knoll as an early source of modern design in America.
