Naming Light After a Flower

Founded in 1962 by Dino Gavina, with Sergio Gandini shaping its direction from 1963, Flos took its name — Latin for flower — from designer Pier Giacomo Castiglioni. Working with Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni and Afra and Tobia Scarpa from the start, the brand became an icon of Italian lighting design, its work included in MoMA's landmark 1972 exhibition "Italy: The New Domestic Landscape." Now part of the Flos B&B Italia Group, Flos's collections are available in Western Canada exclusively through Livingspace.
