The Human Light

Founded in 1960 by Ernesto Gismondi and Sergio Mazza in Pregnana Milanese, Artemide built its identity on a simple premise: that light should serve human wellbeing, not just illuminate a room. Gismondi led the company for six decades, working with designers including Richard Sapper, Michele De Lucchi, and Vico Magistretti to create icons like the Tizio and Tolomeo lamps, until his passing in 2021. Today, President and CEO Carlotta de Bevilacqua carries that philosophy forward, with Artemide's collections available in Western Canada exclusively through Livingspace.

President and CEO, Artemide

Carlotta de Bevilacqua leads Artemide today, continuing the brand’s founding philosophy of human-centred light. Her own 2026 design, the Ulrich und Diotima wall lamp, uses craquelé glass with integrated LED technology to reframe how a fixture interacts with a room.

Architects, 2026 Collection

The Swiss architecture practice Herzog & de Meuron designed Boltons, a 2026 table lamp built around an integrated lens and movable reflector — light treated as a field of optical investigation rather than a fixed source.
