Michele De Lucchi is an Italian architect and designer known for his influential role in shaping contemporary Italian design. Born in 1951 in Ferrara, Italy, he studied architecture at the University of Florence during a period of intense experimentation in design and architecture. Early in his career, he became involved with avant-garde movements such as Memphis Group, where his bold and expressive work helped challenge conventional modernist aesthetics in the 1980s.

Over the decades, De Lucchi has worked across architecture, interiors, product design, and lighting, always exploring the relationship between technology, craftsmanship, and human experience. He has collaborated with leading brands including Artemide and Alessi. For Artemide, he co-designed the iconic Tolomeo Lamp with Giancarlo Fassina—an elegantly engineered desk lamp that has become one of the most recognizable lighting designs worldwide. For Alessi, he created products such as the Pulcina Espresso Maker, developed with Illy to improve coffee extraction through its innovative form. Today, De Lucchi’s work continues to reflect a thoughtful balance of innovation, practicality, and poetic design.
