Florence Knoll Furniture

Florence Knoll was an American architect, designer, and business leader who transformed modern office design in the mid-20th century. Educated at the Cranbrook Academy of Art and later at the Illinois Institute of Technology under modernist architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, she developed a strong foundation in modernist principles.

At Knoll, Florence Knoll established the influential Knoll Planning Unit, pioneering a holistic approach to workplace interiors that integrated architecture, furniture, textiles, and space planning. She also designed a series of refined furniture pieces, including the Florence Knoll Sofa and Florence Knoll Table Desk, known for their clean lines, precise proportions, and timeless elegance. Through her leadership and design work, Florence Knoll helped define the modern corporate interior and left a lasting legacy in both architecture and furniture design.
