For Every Need

Charles Eames once said, “The role of the designer is that of a very good, thoughtful host anticipating the needs of his guests.” That spirit lives on in the molded plastic, fibreglass, wood shell, and wire chairs by Charles and Ray Eames—designs created to offer a simple, welcoming form that feels right for every body and every space.

In every way

Rooted in Charles Eames and Eero Saarinen’s early plywood-molding experiments at Cranbrook Academy in 1939, and later developed further with Ray Eames in the Venice studio, the molded chair reflects the Eameses’ spirit of constant refinement and their goal of creating “the best for the most for the least.” With each new form, finish, and configuration, they continued to expand what the shell chair could be.

From plywood and stamped metal to fibreglass, bent wire, and later safer plastic, the design evolved alongside new materials and technologies. Today, that legacy continues through the Molded Plywood, Molded Wood, and Molded Plastic Chairs—each carrying forward the Eameses’ commitment to innovation, versatility, and enduring design.

For Everyone

The Eames Shell Chair was designed with adaptability in mind, offering countless configurations for a wide range of spaces and uses. That versatility is what makes it a true classic—equally at home in museum collections and everyday settings like living rooms, cafés, lobbies, and beyond.

With a wide selection of shells, bases, colours, and finishes, it can be tailored to feel personal and enduring. It’s the kind of piece you might buy in your twenties and still treasure decades later—because like every person, every chair has its own story.
