AJ Table Lamp
Arne Jacobsen designed this fixture, among many other elements, for the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen in 1957. The table lamp provides a pleasant downward-directed light thanks to its white-painted inner shade. Additionally, the shade can be tilted to adjust the light distribution.
Product Description
The AJ lamp family is considered Arne Jacobsen's most famous design worldwide. In addition to the AJ Table, the AJ family included a small table lamp, a floor lamp, a wall lamp, and a table-mounted lamp, all featured throughout the SAS Royal Hotel since its inauguration in 1960. The AJ Lamp's clean, distinguished shape and immaculate light were prominently displayed in copper and stainless steel throughout the hotel.
Alongside the AJ Royal, the AJ lamp family was integral to the overall design concept Jacobsen created for the hotel, where he practically designed everything himself. The parallels between the straight lines and the combination of straight and curved angles in the AJ lamp design are also evident in the geometric contours of his buildings.
