At Livingspace, we believe a kitchen should be more than a place to cook. It should be the heart of the home, seamlessly balancing function, materiality, and architectural vision. This residential project brings that philosophy to life with the VVD Kitchen from Molteni&C, finished in a striking combination of ferrovia steel, black oak wood veneer, and pewter metallic lacquer
The Design
Set within a residence defined by clean geometry and natural light, the kitchen anchors the home with bold sophistication. Architect Vincent Van Duysen’s VVD Kitchen is celebrated for its interplay of strong forms and subtle details, and here it becomes a focal point that bridges the warmth of black oak with the cool refinement of steel and marble.
The island, clad in pewter metallic lacquer, introduces a tactile softness that contrasts beautifully with the rich depth of black oak veneer cabinetry and the industrial edge of Ferrovia steel. Topped with a monolithic marble slab, the surface extends seamlessly into a functional workspace—a sculptural composition that invites both culinary creativity and communal gathering.

Integration with Architecture
Framed by floor-to-ceiling windows and a soaring oak ceiling, the kitchen sits in harmony with its surroundings. The black oak cabinetry enhances the architectural rhythm of the space, echoing the dark metal window frames while grounding the room with natural warmth. The balance between light and dark, matte and reflective, soft and structured creates a composition of quiet strength.
