A Freezer Built Out of Love

Sub-Zero began in 1945, when Westye F. Bakke, having built what's considered the first free standing freezer to help store his son's insulin, founded the Sub-Zero Freezer Company in Madison, Wisconsin. The company later became the first to manufacture built in refrigerators, and Wolf cooking equipment joined the family to complete the kitchen. In June 2026, Sub-Zero introduced a new Designer Undercounter 15" Ice Maker with near silent MaxQuiet technology. Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances are available in Western Canada exclusively through Livingspace.
