From Postwar Mats to Mediterranean Icon

Founded in 1941 by Jose Gandía Blasco in Valencia, the company began making inexpensive mats from textile waste after the Spanish Civil War. His son, José Antonio Gandía-Blasco Canales, transformed the business in the 1980s around design, launching outdoor furniture in 1996 and drawing heavily on Ibiza's vernacular architecture and Mediterranean heritage. In 2026, the company marked its 85th anniversary with an architectural veil installation at Salone del Mobile. Gandia Blasco's collections are available in Western Canada exclusively through Livingspace.
