Four Decades of Working With Pure Light

Davide Groppi founded his eponymous lighting company in 1988 from a small laboratory in Piacenza, beginning with early designs like Tropical. Nearly four decades on, Groppi still designs every piece himself, drawing on art, found objects, and hand-craft to treat light as something meant to seduce and surprise rather than simply illuminate. Since 2018, the company has operated as part of the Dexelance group, joining Italy's Altagamma Foundation in 2019 while Groppi has continued to design independently. His collections are available in Western Canada exclusively through Livingspace.

Davide Groppi has designed every piece to carry his name since founding the company in 1988. His 2026 work, shown at “Un’ora di Luce” in Piacenza, includes Umasi — a vertically adjustable paper-shaded lamp inspired by Japanese design — and Vera, a limited-edition amaranth glass lamp with a holographic bulb effect.
