Reviving a Glassworks, One Generation On

Brokis was founded in 2006 by Czech entrepreneur Jan Rabell, who had acquired the historic Janštejn Glassworks nine years earlier to save it from decline. Rabell modernized the factory while preserving its 19th-century hotshop techniques, reviving forgotten glass-coloring formulas along the way — work recognized in 2023 when Czech handmade glass was added to UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage list. In September 2026, Milan-based designer Federico Peri joined as Art Director to guide the brand's next creative chapter. Brokis's collections are available in Western Canada exclusively through Livingspace.

Federico Peri joins Brokis to guide its creative direction across collections, installations, and brand identity. Working across product, interior, and collectible design since 2011, his practice centers on material, light, and atmosphere — a natural fit for a brand built on glass and craft.
